The Cliche that is Life

It has been a little while since I last sat down and wrote down my thoughts. Perhaps this is because many thoughts have been going through my head and I did not want the internet know what those thoughts were. So instead I will forget those thoughts and write about something happier.

Happiness is one of the goals of all creatures on this earth, but we only know what true happiness is through sadness. Sadness is a plague that has haunted the earth from the beginning. Little insects such as myself have experienced sadness ever since we were little larvae. We would crawl out of the hive and cry, just for something to do. But it is easy to find happiness. Everyone has something that makes us happy, and usually it's something tiny and insignificant to others. For little Bumble Bees it is wearing a certain sweater, or taking an especially long time to drink coffee. A friend of mine, a horse, enjoys reading in the dark into the late hours of the night. Others make it even more insignificant, like watching a certain movie, or even drinking a special type of coffee that takes a little longer to make, but tastes amazing. When someone does something like this to brighten up their day I call it adding a little happy to your day. Because you see, we all need happy if we're not happy then we will go through life sad, and not fully appreciate life, and therefore ruin the precious gift that is life.

I can describe life in one sentence; Life is Good. I know it's cliché, but it's true, and I can explain why.

Life is what we are all given. The one thing that connects everything. Even if an alien ascended from the sky, looked at us all and say that we aren't the same at all, he would be wrong. For you see he is alive, and there for has something in common with us as creatures of the universe.

"Is" is a definite word. (That's right I used is twice.) "Is" is used to stay something that is certain and set in stone. Life will always be good. It won't one wake up and say "Nah, I don't want to be good today." And would then proceed to go back to bed. Then all the little insects of the world would look around confused. Without life are we dead or are we just office workers?

Good is a little trickier. It's tricky because life is good, but not any more or any less. To say that Life is Great would be wrong. Great is used when you have that high of "I can do anything. Nothing will bring me down." To say that life is great would be like saying that you are on this high all the time. To say that life is bad or that life sucks would also be wrong. Bad is used when nothing seems to go your way, and when you just don't want to do anything but lie in bed. You don't even want to watch TV, just lie down in bed and stare at the wall. Good is the beautiful in between. Good covers the "great" and the "bad." Because sometimes bad things happen, and you need to bounce back and find something to be happy about, and sometimes great things happen, but you will not always have this and you must try hard to make those great things happen, making it even better when these things happen.

We all need to strive to add a little happy into our lives. I know I have a good life. Bad things happen, but good things happen too. I have a loving family, I go to a good college, I live in a country that doesn't persecute me for my blog, and my God loves me, what else could I want? My little Bumble Bee Life is Good.

Dr. Christ at Work in the World

I was working with a friendly ladybug at a club event when she discovered that I am a biology major. She then got a confused look on her face and said, "So what do you think about Evolution?" At first I was confused. Was she talking about my class? She then cleared it up by saying, "No, I thought you were religious." I then said, "Oh yes, I believe in Evolution but I also believe that God created this world." I was then supported with an excited "woo-hoo" from a friendly monkey. The ladybug seemed happy that I thought that way. We then continued to have a very nice philosophical discussion.

As I returned to go about my day, I thought of this conversation. I suppose you could say that science is how I see God's work. Science explains the amazing things that God has made and what could be better than that? I know a lot of people believe scientific people to be cold and analytical, but the truth is that we are a little bit. We enjoy analyzing things. To look at the world and try to discover as much as you can about it is fun. I can tell you why I like to eat chocolate, why people become sad when it rains, and why I love to be hugged and touched. There are many mysterious things about this world and I love to figure them out. As to the cold part, we only appear cold to those outside. The people who I enjoy talking with who are very like minded as me can say things that speak true wisdom and insight, but to others it might seem mean and cruel.

I think that God is a scientist, and I can clearly picture him as a doctor. Jesus would walk into a hospital, put on his white coat, and get to work. "Dr. Christ, you're needed in OR 3." Someone would say over the intercom. He would then come into the room to see me, a little Bumble Bee in scrubs and getting ready for a surgery. He'd smile at me and say, "What's going on Doc?"

I may be  a little Bumble Bee, but I love science and I feel that God likes it too. Why wouldn't he? He did create it and so I think he'd like to see people figure it out. It's like when you make a puzzle and give it to one of your friends to figure it out. It's fun because you like to see how clever your friends are, how clever you are, and how much your friends like you. If your friend doesn't like you, then they wouldn't spend the time to attempt to figure it out, but if they like you, and if they like you a lot they will dedicate a lot of their time to figure it out. This is how I view science, but then I'm just a little Bumble Bee.
